Second Place in Hardcore: BF6 Night One with New Gear

Second Place in Hardcore: BF6 Night One with New Gear

The setup

New battlestation night: a SteelSeries Apex Pro TKL Gen 3 (Hall-effect switches, Rapid Trigger) and a Razer DeathAdder V4 Pro — true 8000Hz polling, wired or wireless, 56 grams of white lightning. First mission: Battlefield 6.

Three matches. One win, two losses. But here’s the part that matters.

Hardcore is home

The two losses? Normal mode. The win — and the 2nd place finish with the best team in the lobby — came in HARDCORE.

I love hardcore. Always have. No hand-holding, real damage, no second chances. In normal mode everyone’s a superhero soaking bullets on their way to a kill-cam replay. In hardcore, positioning is everything, patience is a weapon, and the player who knows where to stand beats the player who knows where to aim. That’s been my game since Battlefield 2: I sit ON the flag — under it, usually — and let the enemy come to me.

The tracker agrees

First night stats on the BF6 tracker: 72.9% objective time — top 1.3% of players. K/D of 0.21 (early days, new game, new gear — it’ll climb). But that objective number isn’t a fluke, it’s a habit with two decades of history: 6,990 revives as a combat medic in BF2, a global rank of #16,836 out of 46 million, and a doctrine that’s always been mission over metrics.

Funny thing: the philosophy this whole project runs on is called 73/27 — 73% helping the mission, 27% having fun doing it. The tracker measured my objective time at 72.9%. Sometimes the numbers just line up.

Highlights from the night

  • TOW missile into a chopper — double kill. The victim typed “nice one!!” in chat. Respect between soldiers.
  • A tactical vehicle introduction (I drove over someone. He did not have time to say nice one.)
  • Revives are back — pressed E, jabbed the needle, brought teammates back. Though BF6 locking the medipack behind progression points is madness — the medic’s kit is the job, not a reward. A medic shouldn’t have to earn the bandages.

The gear verdict

Zero adjustment period. The Rapid Trigger keys make counter-strafing feel telepathic, and at 56 grams the DeathAdder disappears in the hand. Podium finish on night one with unfamiliar hardware — the equipment is officially not the bottleneck.

Hardcore mode. New gear. Old doctrine. The BF6 chapter is open.

Rangers lead the way. 🎖️
